The road to Normandy [02 Aug 2006|02:48pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

we are leaving for Normandy tonight and mani hope the weather is better in France then it is in Edinburgh. It is wet and cool.

we depart tonight at 9.30pm by bus to portsmouth where we will then catch the ferry to Caen then continue to Normandy. if all goes to plan we will be there by morning.... although it is going to be a party bus with quite a bit of drink consumed (i hope we have a good toilet on the bus)i am not looking forward to the long haul.

i am however looking forward to the trip and spending some time with beth and colin in normandy as i haven't really caught up with them since they returned from america. i am really really looking forward to meeting up with graham in lyon tho..... all fun and games ;-)

two more sleeps [31 Jul 2006|03:00pm]
[ mood | happy ]

finally a weekend where i didnt have anything planned. So nice to have a relaxing weekend, in fact i am fairly sure that it is the 1st time i didnt get out of bed before 2pm! lovin it.

graham and i went shopping, i didnt find a thing (no suprises there tho).

ahh only two more sleeps until i depart for Normandy and i cant wait to have some time off for R&R. although i have to admit i am not looking forward to the bus trip to portsmouth as it will take forever, although there will be plenty of drinking on the bus, no doubt about it, but i need to get a good book.

i also can not wait until i get to lyon and spend some uninterrupted time with Graham (i dont think i will share some of that part of the trip with you).... naughty.....

we have also decided that we will come back to NZ around march time for a holiday. perhaps come for a month or so, and show HerO (graham) around my digs and where i grew up. superb

Euro's day 2 [31 Jul 2006|12:56pm]
[ mood | tired ]

Well today was going to be the survival of the fittest with us playing 4 games, starting at 9am and the last game at 5pm.

we played jersey 1st and played quite well with the final score being a win of 7-0. The second game was against germany and personally i thought this was our best performance in the round games, a win of 10-0.next was against the scotland over 30's squad and i scored my 1st scotland try (superb). we won 7-0. our final game for the day was against france and again it was a bit of a white wash but at least this one was in our favor, 15-1 scotland.

For the 1st couple of games the weather was overcast and it was actually nice to play in but as the day progressed the clouds disappeared and the sun shone, very hot indeed. Joe, annmarie and Lily (cousins from glasgow)made the journey through to come and support us, which i was stoked about. Paula also came as did my wonderful man, Graham (who didnt miss a game i might add, what a man).

The was a New Zealand Academy team participating in the Mixed grade and i just happened to recognize one of the players, he went to my school and im sure my sister (flotternz) will also remember him, Adrian Soh. so i had a chat with him..... Man what a small world.

Shattered and time to get a rub me thinks.

Celtic V Manchester United [26 Jul 2006|03:25pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

How fantastic is this. Graham bought us tickets to the preseason Celtic v Manchester United game tonight.

When we got there we were quite disapointed to learn that the stadium was not even sold out, which did effect the atmosphere somewhat but i was so stoked to see manchester united in action (although they were missing some key players). Simon, my brother-in-law (flotternz husband)would be happy to learn that Paul scholes was playing and i managed to get a photo of him, from distance, just to prove it.

i have to say that the Man Utd new strip is poo!

BTW man Utd won 3-0

Euro's day 3 - Finals day [23 Jul 2006|02:39pm]
[ mood | ecstatic ]

Sunday - Finals day.
Today we made it to the semi-finals in which we faced Wales again. It was a very good hard game and we played very well. We won 2-1 to advance into the final against England.

we were so nervous as we didnt want to be dicked like we were in the 1st day. but we done ourselves proud. Played our hearts out and we were very pleased with our final performance. we lost 4-1 in the final and we were stoked with coming second, which is the best result by the scotland team to date.

We had some celebrating to do! so here cometh the Calildh. Graham and i got up for a couple of the scottish country dances. Was a great night really except that i broke my toe during on of the dances (quite funny really considering that i made it through 8 games without injury only to get injured a the party afterwards) what a dick.

Euro's day 1 [21 Jul 2006|11:00am]
[ mood | exhausted ]

Well i arrived at the grounds bright and early, got strapped up (cause dumb arse me decided to injure my quad 2 weeks before the euro's and went against my own advise to rest it). we then had a little march past/parade thing then warmed up to play our first game against Wales. Now England, Wales and Jersey are the teams to beat in the Womans division and we had to face Wales in our 1st game then England in our second game. Nice way to ease us into it eh..... well the 1st game was at 12.00 and the second game was at 5.50pm (long hot wait in between as the sun was blasing.

anyways our game againts wales was tough but good and we ended up winning 3-1.

Our second game against England was a bit of a white wash, and indeed our worst preformance of the euro's, but no discredit to England as there are without a doubt a great team. Anyways the final score was 7-0 defeat... ouch

Happy Birthday to me! [10 Jun 2006|11:24am]
[ mood | bouncy ]

I had such a great day today. My mum called this morning and we chatted for over an hour (close to 2 hours). it was my 1st summer birthday and man what a beautiful day! not a cloud in the sky.

i was sun bathing which was nice, then a bloody bird gave me a birthday present...... shat on my back...... quite funny really.

then my sister (Flotternz) called and we chatted for a while. Was also really good to catch up with her too as we havent spoken since christmas.

The england world cup game was on at 2 and my mate Graham came over to watch it before my BBQ started. was a fairly boring game really.

anyways as the day continued my family and touch mates came over for the BBQ. lots of food and drink was had and fun was had by all!!! great day

i got 2 celtic womans tshirts and celtic pj's! quality. mum sent me a collection of New Zealand foods! lovin it

as day turned into night we went out on the piss (as you do. i cant write about what happened in town because quite honestly i was pissed and cant remember a lot of it (funny that)but i do remember that it was a fab night. but dany, elissa, pierre, graham and myself got back to Elissa's flat at about 5am and i crashed out on her bean bag. great day!

France train tour [01 Jun 2006|01:24pm]
[ mood | high ]

I was up at 5.30am this morning to make it to the train station for 7am and catch the train to paris. Another beautiful morning i might add. i didnt want to leave as Nice is so beautiful and relaxing.

the train trip was so good, very long at 5 1/2 hours long, but the train went down the southeast coast through caines, antebes, toulon, merseille, Nimes, avignon and then up to paris. the sights were beautiful, esp as there was not a cloud in the sky until we got to 1 hour out of paris.

when i arrived in paris i met up with Dany and Elissa at the hostel. we got changed and set out to have a look around. it was drizzly so we went and had a look at the louvre, took pics then went and got a bite to eat at a resturant by the louvre. Elissa went back to the hostle to catch some z's and dany and i went to the eiffel tower. it was dark at this point and it was the most amazing thing to see. and the view from the top was something else!

when we eventually got back to the hostel (bout 2am) we decided that it would be a good idea to have a glass of wine....... 1 bottle later we went to bed.

Beautiful Nice! [31 May 2006|12:21pm]
[ mood | excited ]

Today i woke up a the 1st crack of a sparrow's fart, packed up and went to check in at my new accomodation, Hotel Paradis, which was a lovely place and so close to the beach. I got into my bikini and boardies and went down to the beach. Oh my god it is beautiful. Bright blue sky's, bright blue water and fantastic sun shine. i walked along the beach and then found a supermarket to get some cheese, ham, olives, wine and bread.

i then had lunch at a nice wee cafe on the beach. then sat on the beach enjoying my purchases and getting a tan.

in the afternoon i went back and changed and met my room mates. 2 aussies and an american. i went shopping and oh my god the clothes........AMAZING!

i met up with my roomies from the hotel and went out for dinner. the food was amazing and we had a ball. a few drinks were had and eventually we went back to the room and off to sleep

Nice [30 May 2006|10:42am]
[ mood | pleased ]

Finally recovered from my night out. packed up all my things and margaret took me to the airport (stopping on the way to get some euro's.

i dont know what it is but every time i have caught a flight out of gatwick airport the flight has been delayed and it didnt change this time either. the flight was delayed due to "power problems" personally i would have prefered that they gave us a different plane. how confident can one be with a plane after it has power problems?

anyways i finally made it to Nice. The plane flew in via the coast line and man was it amazing!!!!! it was dusk and so beautiful! fantastic.

I got picked up by the folks from the hostel, checked in, and made my way down to the bar. cheap 1e drinks! nice. off to bed

[ mood | tired ]

Today i felt like i was hanging out my arse! i finally got home from Tommy and Ant's place after midday. i just relaxed on the couch all day. it worked out well really as Margaret was ordered to sit with her feet up for a few days so we did just that. ordered in chinese and that was my day. beautiful.

Meeting up with Tommy [28 May 2006|09:50am]
[ mood | excited ]

This morning i had to go with Margaret to the hospital and i have to say that i was impressed as we didnt have to wait around for long at all which is suprising for an A&E on the weekend. Margaret was in and out in an hour and a half.

We went out for lunch/dinner at a carvery resturant, which was beautiful, and had a relaxing time with a few wines.

I then went out to meet up with Tommy Mason (mate from NZ who was the coach for Waitakere Football club when i worked there). His mate was playing in a band at a nice (uppermarket) bar. the band were very good. I also met up with Ants (also from Waitakere FC) and my chosen drink for the night was Kronenbourg blanc (very nice) and i didnt realise that i could pack them all away as well as i did. i would hate to know just how many i had but it was enough to get me quite happy. Tommy and Ants were on fine form, as usual, and we had a great time. when the bar finished we made our way to another 'private' club and danced and drank the night away. i crashed at the lad place and woke up in the mornign feeling, shall we say..... a little shady.

[ mood | excited ]

It has been far far far to long since my last entry! i have been a busy little girl. playing touch rugby 3-4 nights a week, working and planning my next we trip away.

i played a touch tournament in Aberdeen on the weekend. it was a lot of fun and we won the tournament. its hard being perfect! lol i liked our team name......'run like feck'. the league starts next week and it looks like i will be playing in 4 teams. busy busy busy and we have another tournament on sunday. looking forward to it.

a couple of the Scotland ladies team members were asking me about my passport and visa and were disapointed to learn that i had a NZ passport but when i informed them that i could stay for 10years coz my mum was born here they perked up. i asked why they wanted to know and they said that they wanted me to trial for the Scotland touch rugby team........ well i said i will have to check my diary and see if i am available........not! excited.

im playing in a paris touch tournament on the 3rd June which i am soooo excited about. i will be flying down to london on the 25th May to meet up with Jacinda which i am also very excited about! then catching the eurostar (chunnel) train to paris on the 29th may. I am looking to catch a train to Nice and spen a few days in the beautiful sun then back to paris.

so much i want to see, Notra Dame, Lourve, Moulin Rouge (which is horrendously over priced! 150euro's -185 euro's for show and dinner but i dont want to spend that if i am going by myself!), of course i want to see miss Eiffel as well..... so much with so little time.....
